Happy New Year everyone! Hope everyone had a very nice holiday season.
I had a pretty nice year of photographing Indy Cars and IMSA racing at Road America in Elkhart Lake.
Had an even better year with photographing some great musicians we haven't seen in a long time!! John McLaughin, Kenny Loggins and Steve Miller being the most notable. Jeff Beck or John is a hard choice as to which is the best guitar player!
Happy birthday to Kenny Loggins who turned 70 on January 7th! You would never know he is 70 the way he sounded this past summer.
Our Marty party last year with Marty Stuart and his Fabulous Superlatives was the first time we saw him do an acoustic show! Great seeing my friend Marty who is sounding better every time. His new album Way Out West is the best one yet.
So, here are a few favorite photos of the past year. See how many folks you can identify.
We have;
Steve Miller
Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives
John McLaughlin
Jimmy Herring
John Oates
Hall and Oates
Roger Waters
Roger McGuinn
Michael McDonald
Kenny Loggins
Daya
Helio Castro Neves
Marco Andretti
Katherine Legge

For a few months now, I have been working on the 2018 Rich Zimmermann Photography calendar and it's just about done!! It is a lot of work!
The 2018 calendar is going to be a Summerfest theme with it being 50 years old this year or last year depending on who you talk to.
Each month is the featured musician's birthday. That made it tough to dig through my files to find the Summerfest photo that went along with the birthday person.
The calendar this year is $40.00 including shipping in the U.S. Shutterfly is printing it on their nice, heavy board stock. This is frameable board stock for after the month is done!
The cover will be The Atlanta Rythm Section at Summerfest 1977
January-John McGlaughlin of the Mahavishnu Orchestra at Summerfest 1972
February-Melanie at Summerfest 1974
March-Charlie Pride at Summerfest in 1972
April-John Oates from Hall and Oates at Summerfest in 1977
May-Dusty Hill from Z Z Top at Summerfest/Harley Fest in 2008
June-Jeff Beck at Summerfest in 2010
July-Arlo Guthrie at Summerfest in 1972
August-Tom Johnston of the Doobie Brothers at Summerfest in 1973
September-Jerry Lee Lewis at Summerfest in 1972
October-Steve Miller at Summerfest in 1977
November-Joe Walsh at Summerfest in 1973
December-Eric Bloom from Blue Oyster Cult at Summerfest in 2008
The only thing I have to do is figure out which Jerry Lee Lewis photo to use! There are two shown here and I'm looking for suggestions.
Please let me know if you would like to order one of my calendars as I'm going to try to do just one printing this year.
Check it out and let me know what you think and if you would like one.
Thanks,
Rich Zimmermann

Happy Memorial Day everyone. Be sure thank a veteran for his service today!
Yesterday, was the Indy 500 and it was an amazing action packed race! I couldn't sit still watching this one!
My pick, Scott Dixon, went flying through the air and hit the wall. Fortunately he survived and is fine. Second pick, Fernando Alonso, had a Honda engine blow up after a great run and my third pick, Helio Castronieves, came sooooo close to winning! Congrats to Takuma Sato or Tako as we call him. Helio will have to try for his fourth win at Indy next year.
Anyway and on another noted, here is Hall and Oates from the Tears for Fears and Hall and Oates show I shot a few weeks ago. I had a song and a half to photograph the band standing on a chair at the soundboard way back!
Great show and I still think that Tears for Fears was better than Hall and Oates on this particular evening.
Enjoy, and have a great week.
Thanks,
Rich Zimmermann

Here's a little taste of Hall and Oates 1977 that I just discovered doing work for Summerfest! I look forward to seeing them soon with Tears for Fears in Milwaukee!
I saw John Oates as a solo act a few months ago and wow he is good. The boys together again will be something to see.
1977 was when I loved using a cross screen filter on the lens. It softens things up a bit but gives a cool effect!
Enjoy a look at the guys.
Thanks,
Rich Zimmermann
